I had the opportunity to work on the Full Site Editing Theme from Themeisle, called Jaxon. This minimalistic theme incorporates a selection of design patterns and multiple style options specially designed for e-commerce shops. It is also suitable for other purposes, such as blogs, small businesses, portfolio sites, etc.

Initial Design

Below is one of the initial design proposals from the exploration stage, where we were still trying to figure out the Design language and theme niche. We used elements on the page that will change the color dynamically when changing the color palettes - for example, the SVG vector in the Hero section. This makes the style transition more seamless.

A New Direction

After more discussions, and since Themeisle already had three other FSE themes without covering the e-commerce niche - we decided to steer the design in that direction. This is how Jaxon FSE Theme was born, focusing on e-commerce, which included a collection of ready-to-use Patterns specially designed for Shops with Calls to Action, Product Sections, Testimonials, and 6 distinct Global Styles.

The ready-to-use Patterns Collection allows users to create a consistent and visually appealing layout quickly and easily add professional-looking content to their site without having to start from scratch.

Reception

Contributing to Jaxon and other FSE themes was an exciting experience since I also contributed with Code, besides doing the usual Product Design work. The new FSE Theme received a good reception from users and became one of the most popular FSE Themes in the Wordpress.org repository. Currently, the theme has around 4000+ Active Installs, and it's the 3rd most popular FSE Theme from Themeisle after Neve FSE and Raft FSE.
